I've given up the PTSD story because it's a used idea and I don't think I could contribute to the body already written. My character is still good, though, I'll just have to find another angle.
I'm working on an essay comparing Supergirl to Catwoman (the movies) just for fun.
Last semester I had more fun writing than I have ever had before. I think the longer paper format allows me to use my voice, and to elucidate ideas rather than try to cram pure facts in a clipped, journalistic voice into five pages. It's still hard work, and it takes more time, but it really is quite liberating.
I think I'd like to continue exploring death as a scholarly theme. After I took "death and dying, a how to" as an undergrad and was shot down for my unique, humorous and optimistic ideas, I sort of took to it.
